Caring for a Berber carpet
Berber wool rugs require regular maintenance to preserve their original appearance.
For this, here are some tips:
- Vacuum the carpet regularly using a vacuum cleaner in gentle brushing mode to remove dust and dirt without damaging the fibers.
- Carry out deep manual or steam cleaning at least once every two months to remove encrusted dirt.
- For heavily soiled carpets, a thorough cleaning every two years is recommended.
- For stains, use Marseille soap, white vinegar, Sommières earth, baking soda, or products specially designed for wool. Always test a small, inconspicuous area of the carpet before cleaning completely.
- Avoid the use of aggressive detergents which could damage the fibers of the carpet. Favor natural and gentle solutions.
- After cleaning, dry the carpet well in the open air to avoid bad odors and the formation of mold.
- Avoid machine washing the rug and putting it in the wringer, as this could damage the fibers and structure of the rug.
- To avoid localized wear, regularly change the location of furniture on the carpet every six months to ensure even wear.
- In the case of very dirty carpets, call on professionals specializing in carpet cleaning for appropriate treatment.
